Disney Infinity is still in its early stages, having launched just last week, and despite mostly positive reviews, it's already off to a rough start on Sony's PlayStation 3. Quite a few players have reported problems with freezing after installing a patch that was issued over the weekend.
If you're among said group of players, producer John Vignocchi is advising fans via Twitter to "Delete the patch and don't install it upon restart. We have QA looking into it right now." It's a pretty simple process, really, for which Disney has provided exact instructions on the games' Facebook page:
1. Go to the Game menu of the XMB
2. Open the Game Data Utility folder (near the top of the list)
3. Highlight the Disney infinity icon with the characters background (this is the patch)
4. Press the triangle button on the wireless controller
5. Select the delete option
6. When asked "are you sure you want to continue?", select YES. Patch is now deleted.
That, or you can just play offline, also quite simple. To turn off network communication, go to the Settings menu and open the Network Settings menu (last on the list). Select Internet Connection, highlight "Disable" and press the X button on the wireless controller. Boom, you're now playing offline.
Disney has since informed fans that there "is a network issue related to the 1.01 patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Disney Infinity. This is not a software-related issue, and we are working to resolve this as quickly as possible."
Avalanche Software is also aware of and investigating the issue. We'll keep you posted once a more permanant fix becomes available. Disney Infinity is out on PlayStation 3, 3DS, Wii, Wii U and Xbox 360. A PC version is due out in October.
