Many fans called for "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 to be canceled after the female lead Abbie Mills was killed off last season. However, the new season will push through with a brand new female lead and story plot. Despite the creators' efforts to deliver an exciting storyline, most fans find the new plot too similar with another supernatural series "Lucifer."
Ichabod Crane & Diana
"Sleepy Hollow" season 4 will see Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) with a new partner in the person of Homeland Special Agent Diana Malhotra (Janina Gavankar), as previously reported by GamenGuide. The new season will follow Crane to Washington DC, where he will partner with the secret service agent to combat the supernatural. It was revealed that the pair won't exactly be friends at first considering their differences, but they will soon form a partnership, where the new series will be focused on.

Fox executive David Madden was convinced the new storyline is worth approving even though it was a hard decision to let go of Nicole Beharie. To recall, Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison took center stage in the past three seasons of the series. Replacing Beharie is a risky decision that Fox took despite the backlash they received when season 3 wrapped up. However, Madden insisted that there are a lot of untold stories in "Sleepy Hollow" season 3 that fans would love to see.
Too Much 'Lucifer' In Season 3?
"The first seven scripts are really fun. We think there's a lot of good new stories to tell," Madden discussed "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 to TV Line. "The only thing you can do is show materials from the show that will demonstrate to viewers that there's still something very special about the series."
Despite the reassuring word of Fox Executive, many fans are quick to point out the similarities between "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 and "Lucifer." This is true especially in the roles of the lead characters. Diana closely resembles Lucifer's love interest Chloe Decker, who's a single mother with a daughter. Both series is also focused on fighting off supernatural beings. "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 is expected to air midseason of 2017 on Fox.
