Hazelight Studios, the developer behind It Takes Two, just shared a new trailer showcasing its next co-op adventure game, Split Fiction.
The upcoming game is an action-adventure title that will feature split-screen support where players are able to jump between sci-fi and fantasy worlds. The developer and the publisher of the game said that it will let you discover a variety of sci-fi and fantasy abilities and mechanics.

The studios also talked about some of the things that players can expect to encounter in the full game when it launches. These include escaping a sun that is about to go supernova, challenging a monkey to a dance battle, and even going snowboarding and doing cool tricks.
Split Fiction has many worlds that feel entirely different from one another and offer varied challenges to surprise players. The protagonists of the game are Mio and Zoe, who are both writers but have contrasting styles and personalities, according to Variety.
One focuses on sci-fi, and the other leans more toward fantasy. The two of them suddenly become trapped in their own stories after they are accidentally hooked up to a machine that was designed to steal the characters' creative ideas.

They will have to jump back and forth between different worlds and work together while mastering a ton of different abilities to get back home. They also need to break free of their imprisonment with their memories intact.
Hazelight Studios was able to win the Best Game of the Year award during The Game Awards 2021 for It Takes Two. Many fans believe that it just feels right that the studio fully revealed Split Fiction in this year's event, Rolling Stone said.
Jumping Between Sci-fi and Fantasy
Some players were able to experience a one-hour demo of the upcoming game and sat down with studio director Josef Fares. The latter revealed the reasoning behind the decision to reveal Split Fiction at The Game Awards 2024.
One thing to note is that the protagonists' names are actually the names of Fares' real-life daughters. However, he noted that that was as far as the two characters' similarities to his children go.
He added that his daughters are aged four and two, which means that they do not really have their own personalities yet. Fares allegedly named the protagonists that way because he loves his daughters, which made it feel natural.
Fares said that the studio has been building co-op games for the past decade and has tried to push beyond what players expect with every game. He noted that he is proud of what they have created with Split Fiction and is excited to share it with the world, according to Venture Beat.
