Gearbox Software and 2K Games shared the first trailer for Borderlands 4 at The Game Awards 2024. It showcased the game's main villain, combat, new weapons, and much more.
Borderlands 4 is one of the most highly anticipated games right now and is set to come out sometime next year. The game's first full trailer introduces fans of the franchise to The Timekeeper, who is a ruthless dictator in control of a mass army.

There is a world-changing catastrophe that is about to unfold that threatens The Timekeeper's Order and could unleash chaos across Kairos. The latter is the most dangerous planet discovered so far within the Borderlands universe.
The latest entry in the series is considered the most ambitious Borderlands game so far. It is said to be hand-crafted by the development team that was responsible for the first-ever game in the franchise.
Borderlands 4 aims to revolutionize the series' gameplay and storytelling in different ways to deliver a unique gaming experience. This is all as it also tries to deliver the quintessential Borderlands experience that fans are asking for, according to 2K Newsroom.

The upcoming game will feature intense action with badass Vault Hunters as well as seemingly billions of wild and deadly weapons. Borderlands 4 is said to include the deepest and most diverse Vault Hunter skill trees throughout the franchise.

The Latest Entry in the Franchise
Throughout its more than a decade in the industry, the Borderlands franchise has spawned various spin-offs, comic books, novels, and even a card game. Borderlands 3 was released in 2019 and was the last mainline entry for quite a while, Game Rant said.
Borderlands 4 was originally teased by Gearbox Software with a short trailer during Gamescom in August 2024. The main thing that the developer announced before is that Handsome Jack will not be returning as the main villain of the latest entry.
The new Vault Hunters were shown in the latest trailer, but there was not much information shared about them except for the fact that their skill trees are diverse. The situation comes as a terminally ill fan of the Borderlands franchise was able to play the upcoming game early.
Caleb McAlpine put out what he called a "long shot" request to Gearbox Software to let him play Borderlands 4 before he passes away as he has stage-4 cancer. He has since expressed his appreciation to everyone who supported his request and shared that the studio granted it.
He met the developers of the game as well as Gearbox Software founder Randy Pitchford. McAlpine shared his first impressions of Borderlands 4, saying that the game is amazing, according to Game Spot.
