Release Date Announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2's Nuketown Zombies Maps for PS3 and PC

Treyarch and Activision announced it was coming sometime this week, and now we know when.

On the official Call of Duty Facebook page, Activision has revealed that Nuketown Zombies map becomes available for PlayStation 3 and PC gamers on Jan. 17. It will also come with an exclusive in-game calling card, too. There's the good. The bad? It's only available for Season Pass holders. Neither company has said if the map will be released separately in the future.

Treyarch first announced the Nuketown 2025 map as being available through pre-order of the special editions back in July.

The map is a remake of the Nuketown map which first appeared in Call of Duty: Black Ops. One of the smallest maps, it focused on close quarters combat, and was a bit claustrophobic. Despite the small adjustments to the new map, combat likely won't change too much in the "new" map.
Nuketown 2025 will also feature as a bonus map in Black Ops 2's zombie mode, which is great for any zombie fans who like the old '50's look. Check out the trailer below to see how it looks.

Black Ops 2's zombie mode marks the third time (which is the charm as I understand it) in the Call of Duty franchise for players to take on the undead horde. The difference here is that Black Ops II's Zombie mode sports its own campaign along with the main story, a first for the series.

Unlike so many horror movies, the campaign actually addresses the origin of the zombie affliction, and how the famished corpses came to be.

Treyarch also expanded the amount of players for the zombie mode. Compared with previous Call of Dutys, where only four could play co-op, Black Ops 2's Zombie mode will support up to 8 players. Treyarch announced in August 2012 that Nuketown would be remade as a zombie map for those buying Hardened or Care Package Edition of Black Ops 2.

Since its release, Black Ops 2 has managed to gross over $1 billion, which is just another milestone for the shooter. Shortly after the game's launch, it was revealed that Black Ops 2 managed to set records as Amazon's most pre-ordered game ever. It also managed to hit a sell-through of over $500 million worldwide in the first 24 hours of its release, according to Chart-Track, and GameStop president Tony Bartel wrote that the retailer sold more than 1 million units worldwide, and that "'Black Ops II' is shaping up to be our biggest game launch of all time."

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is out now for Xbox 360, PC, PlayStation 3, and Nintendo's Wii U. We'll let you know as soon as an official date is given for the map's release.
