The Nintendo Switch is getting RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on Dec. 5, 2024, to bring the iconic game to the handheld console.

The game is a package that includes the first two games in the franchise. The first game was released in 1999 for PC and was developed by Chris Sawyer to try to make the title focused on having players run their own theme park.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on Switch

RollerCoaster Tycoon tasks players with completing a series of scenarios where they can construct various rides and stalls. These will be used to attract more and more visitors to your theme park.

The game is particularly memorable among players for its unique guest system. This gives every single park visitor their own name, likes and dislikes, and overall mood meters. You have to monitor and manage these properly to keep them happy.

If you fail and guests become too unhappy, they will provide their feedback for you so that you can improve your theme parks. RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic is an enhanced version of the original. It features the first two games in the franchise, according to Gaming Bible.

The developer worked hard to add new quality-of-life features while still keeping the original experience as much as possible. The package first arrived in 2016 for mobile devices with various inputs from Sawyer himself.

He had a long-term ambition to try and bring the game to touch-screen devices. It became a hugely popular app during its time and was considered one of the best management sim games in history.

Extending the Franchise's Reach

Vice president of publisher Atari Ethan Stearns talked about the upcoming game. He said that fans of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic have been hoping for a long time for the game to get a Switch version. He said that this was thanks to their partners at Graphite Lab, who translated the game's detailed keyboard-based controls to controller input, Nintendo Life said.

He added that bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic to Switch is a chance to re-engage with older players. It also provides active players with a new way to play the game as it reaches a new generation of gamers.

The games package will feature the Toolkit, Wacky Worlds, and Time Twister expansion packs that were previously released. This means that players on the Nintendo Switch will have access to a total of 95 scenarios across both titles.

The release of RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic on the Switch is the latest in a series of events that Atari has organized. These were all to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise. There is also merchandise available in the Atari store, according to the Video Games Chronicle.
