Team Behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Thief 4 Responsible for Tomb Raider's Multiplayer

Only officially confirmed fairly recently after rumors hit the web, Crystal Dynamics is offering up details about the new multiplayer mode coming to the Tomb Raider re-boot.

A post from Edios community manager Meagan Marie over at the official Eidos forums revealed that sister studio Eidos Montreal is working on the mode. The team boasts the well reviewed Deus Ex: Human Revolution, as well as the upcoming Thief 4 on their resume. According to the post, the team has been "working away at the multiplayer while we focused everything on the single-player offering."

Unfortunately, that's about all that Eidos is willing to comment on given the new game mode. The post went on to say that more details would be revealed in Official Xbox Magazine's next issue, and the Consumer Electronics Show, scheduled to begin under a week from today, Jan. 8. Check back here for more information once the show kicks off.

Brought life by Camilla Luddington, this generation's Tomb Raider is very different from the T-Rex blasting adventurer who debuted so many years ago.

Instead of the ass kicking aristocrat who emerged from the first PlayStation, this game will is set to explore "the intense and gritty origin story of Lara Croft and her ascent from a frightened young woman to a hardened survivor. Armed only with raw instincts and the ability to push beyond the limits of human endurance, Lara must fight to unravel the dark history of a forgotten island to escape its relentless hold." Creative director Noah Hughes recently spoke about the new Lara Croft, and what fans can expect from her.

Tomb Raider releases Mar. 5 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. A Collector's Edition is now available for pre-order.
