Tomb Raider's Complete "To Be a Survivor" Trailer from Spike's VGA

In case you missed the latest look at Lara from Spike's VGA's, feel free to check it out below. The trailer fleshes out the story a bit more, and we also get to hear a bit more of Lara, courtesy of Camilla Luddington.

It's still odd seeing Lara get thrashed around so much. As the game is a re-boot, it's important to keep in mind that, for good or bad, this is not wolf kicking, cliff diving, T-rex hunting, Indiana Jane. It's Lara coming into her own, and she's going to take a whole lot of bumps and bruises along the way.

The game will offer a whole new continuity for Lara, so she's going to be a bit different, especially for gamers who remember Lara when she first appeared back in '96. it's still odd seeing her go from a somersaulting, gun toting bad ass, to something considerably more vulnerable. It was this form of Lara that, though sexualized, made her such an icon.

But then again, enemies of Lara's gaming past like bears and velicoraptors leave little room for conversation, which is a new facet for Lara in the re-boot.

In a recent interview with IGN, creative director Noah Hughes talked about the "new" Lara Croft'"Lara does need to cross a line, but you see her struggle several times with staying across it. She even tries to talk down the enemy combatants, but they're not having any of that."

Apart from how Lara has changed on the inside, her physical abilities have also been affected. Crystal Dynamics' Brand Director Karl Stewart took to answering fans' questions on twitter where revealed that, among other things, she can't swim, which further adds why through most of the game she'll look like Rhianna after five against with Chris Brown.

This is not the Lara we've all come to know, but I'm sure we'll all watch with great anticipation to see if that's who she becomes. Tomb Raider releases Mar. 5 for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. A Collector's Edition is available for pre-order.
