The blue bomber may be down, but not out.
One of the few franchises to appear on virtually every console under the sun, Mega Man has conquered everything from the NES, all incarnations of the PlayStation, a wide array of Sega consoles, to a slew of handhelds, even guest starring in a number of Capcom VS games. The list goes on and on. This year marks his 25th year of busting reploids and robot masters.
Speaking with Nintendo Power, Capcom isn't done yet with one of gaming's OG mascots. According to Capcom USA's senior vice-president, Christian Svensson...
"I can say with certainty that you've not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds, and, with luck, we'll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you're going to enjoy over the next 25 years. That said, an issue we've had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we're certain they're going to come out, which unfortunately has lead to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I'm going to have to stay mum about any details."
It's nice to know that Capcom has plans for the azure AI and his mega buster, but unfortunate that they couldn't be bothered to provide any hints as to what's up their sleeves. Last we heard from the company (courtesy of the Mega Man Network) was, earlier this month, plans of Capcom of America hoping to make all six of the original NES Mega Man games available on the Nintendo 3DS eShop's Virtual Console. More recently, Mega Man fans who bought Sega's Ultimate Portable Game Player were able to get their hands on the elusive Mega Man: the Wiley Wars, an updated (not to current standards mind you) collection of the first three Mega Man titles that was only released in Japan and Europe.
Check back to see if Capcom spills the beans on future Mega Man projects.
