NBA 2K13 Features on Nintendo's Wii U

One of the major selling points of Nintendo's new console will be what helps sets apart its upcoming third-party titles from the versions that have already been released on consoles like PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. Why buy Batman: Arkham City for the Wii U when I've already played and beaten it on PS3? Such is the case for NBA 2K13.

As the number one selling game for the month of October, the game's already made the rounds. So why should fans bother buying or re-playing it?

This Developer Insights trailer tells you why, with 2K13's producer Ben Bishop offering up some of the Wii U version's more unique features.

Funny mentioning Batman, because that's kind of what I would expect if Bruce Wayne ever coached in the NBA. The "Gatorade Bio-Metric Scan" offers (wonder how much the sports drink paid for that bit of publicity) gamers a sci-fi styled peek of both their players fatigue level, as well as a map of the court indicating hot and cold zones. Interestingly enough, Kobe Bryant's cold zone encompasses all of Eagle County, Colorado, whereas Shaq's is anything outside of the free throw line.

Further more, the gamepad helps aspiring coaches utilize the touchscreen, instead of fumbling with buttons.

Who knows? Maybe these features can help bring 2K13 to the number one spot on the sales chart again this month too. With NBA Live 13's cancellation by Electronic Arts in September, gamers will have to find additional basketball options somewhere, even if it is from the same game, right? In all sincerity, I kind of doubt it.

As noted, NBA 2K13 is already available on a variety of different platforms. It will be available to the Wii U at the console's launch, Nov. 18 in the US, and Nov. 30 in Europe.
