Samsung confirmed its release date for Galaxy Note for Aug 29, just two weeks ahead of the possible release of Apple's latest smartphone, iPhone 5.
"We plan to unveil the next Galaxy Note at the Samsung Mobile Unpacked event in Berlin on August 29," said Samsung spokesman to Reuters on Friday.
Galaxy Note is rumoured to include features like big 5.5-inch display, 12-megapixel camera, dual-core 1.7GHz processor, and new version of Android.
There are rumours that Samsung would be coming out with a hybrid between a smartphone and tablet in the future for the next version of Galaxy Note.
Last year, Samsung overtook its arch rival, Apple to become the world's largest smartphone maker. The South Korean company will make a strong stance with a fresh line up to counter the influence of the yet-to-be -released iPhone 5.
Galaxy S3, Samsung's flagship phone was released in May and have been a real hit with the masses. Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD display. Galaxy S3 boosted the company's operating profits for 2Q this year. Its sales hit the 10 million mark this July.
Seventy-three percent of Samsung's operating profits (1Q) came from their mobile division. Samsung's shipments of its smartphone were 5 million in the April to June quarter, which is double the iPhone sales.
Apple's shipments for June quarter have slipped by 26 percent.This was chiefly due to downturn in the European economy. And consumers have held off due to the anticipated release of iPhone 5.
Samsung and Apple are battling it out in the U.S. court too. A trial regarding patent infringement against Samsung is being heard with Samsung counter suing Apple.
