Thomas "The Punisher" Jane's Trying to Make Videogame Based on His "Bad Planet" Comic

Another day, another kickstarter project. But this one has The Punisher at the helm. Thomas Jane and longtime "Punisher" artist Tim Bradstreet are lobbying for bucks to adapt their comic "Bad Planet" as a videogame.

If you haven't read the book and want to catch up on the plot, you can check the video at their kickstarter page where Jane and Bradstreet give a quick summation. The cool thing? It involves 12 legged spiders inspired from Thomas Jane's nightmares. Guess that's what happens when you take vicodin and work on a Stephen King movie.

If you're not much of a comic reader, you've seen Bradstreet's work if you watched Jane's self made "Punisher" short, "Dirty Laundry."

Not his first involvement in games, Jane's also provided voices to the videogame adaptation of The Punisher, as well as the western shoot 'em up Gun. But this is a labor of love for Jane, who calls the comic "serious hardcore science fiction," but laments that "This the kind of story that regular producers of videogames are not going to buy. Because this thing takes chances, and its got characters that are ambivalent, it's got anti-heroes, it's long and big and sprawling." These words from the mouth of the man who starred in "Hung."

The game's focus is "brutal 3rd person-combat; customizable weapons and equipment; compelling character growth; and epic battles against hordes of alien monsters." Jane and Bradstreet have (unfortunately) teamed with Red Fly Studios to make the Bad Planet game, the studio that's probably best known for last year's Thor: God of Thunder. But everyone deserves a second chance, right?

If you have an interest in this kind of game, or if you're a fan of Jane or Bradstreet's work, then hurry over to their kickstarter page. They only have 15 days left to reach their $575,000 goal.
