Everyone's excited for The Dark Knight Rises opening Friday, but once again they forget about the greatest hero in the entire DC Universe that lives under the sea: Aquaman! No, really, Aquaman's back, guys. As part of DC Universe Online's special summer series, "Tides of War" finds the King of Atlantis battling his half-brother for control of the underwater kingdom and to keep the seas safe from villainy--or not, if you decide to team up with the Ocean Master to take down the least respected Justice Leaguer.
The all new tie-in will bring a new currency, according to a post on DCU Online.Thanks to the power of the almighty "Sand Dollar," you can start buying themed merch, equipment and skins that go well with the summer, sun and having sprawling underwater battles from Metropolis down into the depths of Atlantis.
The gameplay trailer shows off what happens when you side with the treacherous Ocean Master and his mutiny. And for once, it makes Aquaman look truly bad-ass as he handles multiple foes in all of the crazy action that trying to battle in an MMORPG can muster. "Tides of War" will launch with update 16 later this month and will only be avaliable for a limited time to any hero or villain above level five.
