A complaint for putting too much ice in their iced coffee is apparently Starbucks' latest headache. The coffee giant is known for their delicious hot beverage, so when they gave heir customers an option to switch their usual hot coffee into an iced coffee, it gave them the opportunity to complain about it and slapped the company with a whopping $5 million lawsuit.
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Starbucks is now facing a shocking lawsuit for putting ice to their iced coffee. Customers have been complaining that they are getting much lesser coffee in their cups because their order contains too much ice on it. They are obviously not happy, believing that they have been fooled by the company and that is how it all started.
“Starbucks is misleading customers who expect to receive the advertised amount of fluid ounces,” the lawsuit claims. “For example, if a gallon of gas is advertised as costing three dollars, and a customer pays three dollars and pumps gas, that customer is expecting to receive a gallon of gas — not approximately half a gallon.”
According to Vox, this lawsuit is "silly," considering that it is a given fact that once you order an iced beverage, there will definitely be ice on it. Customers should be smart enough to realize that ice do take up space and in order for it to be satisfyingly cold, Starbucks took the liberty to add enough ice to make it more refreshing.
This news almost echoed the lawsuit Starbucks was facing back in March as reported by Patch. The coffeehouse chain was accused of underfilling their lattes when employees didn't fill-up the latte cups to avoid overflowing. Instead of thinking that they did it for safety purposes, customers see it differently, believing that they have been duped by the company.
