Even before the release of "The Dark Knight Rises", people are already drumming up for an Oscar victory for the Christian Bale starrer - "The Dark Knight Rises". The movie will be an ultimate finale of the Batman movie trilogy, and is directed by Christopher Nolan, who is a maverick in terms of film making. Nolan's previous venture of the Batman series has won him rich accolades but he hasn't been able to win an Oscar for the Superhero movie, yet.
Nolan's "epic" final movie is an ensemble of star actors - Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard.
Just when the movie goers haven't yet settled down with the amazing Spider man, Batman will only overwhelm them. The film is expected to run for three hours.
160 minutes of the movie was filmed using IMAX cameras. "The Dark Knight Rises" has a minefield of action sequences loaded with new vehicles like the Bat-pod, Batman tumbler, and The Bat.
The movie is set eight years after the events of the last film. Batman is blamed for the murder of Harvey Dent, the District Attorney and became the ''Two-Face''. Batman has gone into seclusion. Crime rates at Gotham city are high and terrorist roam about freely. Bane, the new villain is creating havoc and Commissioner Gordon is keeping mum on Harvey Dent. Many have predicted that Blake, the character played by Joseph Gordon Levitt, might step into the shoes of the next Batman! What happens now is what the fans of Batman series are eagerly awaiting.
The character of John Blake will bring in a "breath of fresh air" when compared to characters like Gordon or Wayne, who have been tortured souls throughout the trilogy.
The first big screen adaptation of Batman was in 1943. Later in the 60's there were television series on Batman and later a movie was made out of it. Frank Miller came out with The Dark Knight Returns and Batman: Year One in the 1980s. Later it was Tim Burton's portrayal of Batman in Batman (1989) and Batman Returns (1992), which were blockbuster hits until the Joel Schumacher starrer Batman Forever (1995) and Batman & Robin (1997) revitalised interest in Batman among people. It was Christopher Nolan who added the depth to the character with newer innovative ideas and a darker picturing of Gotham city.
When it releases to theatres on July 20th, the Batman trilogy will come to a conclusion with Nolan and Bale not being a part of any further ventures. The conclusion will be bittersweet for both fans and actors in the Dark Knight series.
