Joker Returns in Batman Arkham City Silver Age Prequel

British video game developers, Rocksteady Studios' next venture into the Batman game franchise will feature The Justice League, in a prequel to "Batman: Arkham City" if the report from Variety is to be believed. The game will be released in 2014. The prequel will be set during the late 1950's, the "Silver Age" of DC Comics.

Rocksteady Studios has not confirmed on the details of the prequel but the commercial success of the last Batman game series, "Batman: Arkham City", would only motivate it to continue making Batman games.

Variety report tells us that this prequel would be new and "highly stylized" symbolizing the silver age of comic books. The story will revolve around Batman's first meeting with the Joker, when the Dark Knight teamed up with Superman and other heroes founding the Justice League. In the comic book, Joker first appeared in the Gotham city's TV's and radios broadcasting his plan to assassinate key political figures.

For the few gamers who may not have finished the Batman: Arkham City game, be warned that the rest of the article may contain spoilers. The Joker is returning in the next version of the highly successful Batman series. Fans were shocked with the Joker's death at the end of Batman: Arkham City from a deadly contaminated virus. As Batman defeats Clayface in the game's final battle for the antidote cure, the Joker lunges for the vial causing Batman to drop and shatter the remining cure. Joker dies laughing as Batman carries the corpse out to police custody.

In the previous instalment of Batman games, Kevin Conroy gave voice for Batman and Mark Hamill for Joker. Mark Hamill would not be part of any of the Batman series.

Superhero characters like Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and The Flash will also feature in the game. There might be a possibility of Aquaman, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, and Hawkgirl also featuring in the prequel.

"Batman: Arkham Asylum" game was introduced by Warner Bros. in 2009, and "Batman: Arkham City" was released in 2011. "Batman: Arkham City" was a commercial and critical hit selling 6 million units worldwide in the first month alone.

Warner Bros has not yet commented on the claims by the report. But presently they are busy preparing for the release of "Lego: The Piece of Resistance", an animated movie that will feature Batman and Superman as the mini figure stars. Batman will also feature in the 2013 release of "Injustice: Gods Among Us."
