Gladiators and gaming haven't always gone together that well, unless it's more of a fantasy setting and you're playing as some sort of God of war possibly. But maybe it'll be different for Starz Media's Sparticus Legends, distributed by Ubisoft and developed by Kung Fu Factory, for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
Premiering at Comic-Con this weekend, the game will be a bit of a mystery. From their own press release:
"Featuring thousands of ruthless weapon combinations and a robust skill system, Spartacus Legends allows you to customize your gladiators and mercilessly dismember your enemies, limb by limb. Challenge your friends, your foes or the worldwide leaderboards, online or offline, to forge your destiny and fight for your house honor. Two men enter the arena, will you come out alive?"
It also claims you can play as Sparticus, Crixus or "one of their own created glaidators." So is it purely an online PvP set-up? Is there a plot? There are more questions here than at the end of The Amazing Spider-Man. Still, if you release a screen shot and it's of a decapitation, it's safe to assume your game is fairly violent.
The game is set for release sometime in 2013, but we'd assume closer to the season premiere of the new series, Sparticus: War of the Damned.
