A new leak for the Nintendo Switch 2 suggests that the open-world action RPG "Gotham Knights" will be released on the handheld platform sometime in the future.

The rumor comes after new evidence surfaced for Nintendo's upcoming successor to its handheld console. If this turns out to be accurate, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be the fourth platform that "Gotham Knights" will be released on.

Gotham Knights on Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo's upcoming handheld console is said to have already entered mass production in late 2024, as early as late September of that year. Many hardware leaks have supported this particular theory as they described or depicted the Switch 2.

The latest leak identifying "Gotham Knights" as another Nintendo Switch 2 title adds to the scarce list of potential games so far for the console. The recent development came from YouTuber Doctre81, who apparently found a LinkedIn profile of a Polish game developer.

This profile allegedly mentioned his contributions to optimizing two versions of "Gotham Knights" for "unreleased" platforms. It is presumed that the Nintendo Switch 2 is one of these, which is more believable since a Switch version of the game was rated in September 2023, according to Game Rant.

The idea that the game was rated for both handheld consoles makes sense, as Switch 2 is said to have backward compatibility with its predecessor's games.

By the time the YouTuber reported the leaks, the unannounced versions of "Gotham Knights" had been removed from the LinkedIn profile.

The fact that "Gotham Knights" experienced performance issues on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, it is likely that developers encountered problems in trying to port the game to the Switch, which is much less powerful.

An Immersive Open-World Action RPG

The fact that it has been more than two years since the game's rating on the Nintendo Switch was leaked means that it is possible for it to have been transformed into a version for the sequel console, Comic Book said.

The official description for "Gotham Knights" says that Batman is dead, resulting in a new expansive, criminal underworld to sweep the streets of Gotham City. The Batman Family is now tasked with protecting the area and giving its citizens hope.

The heroes that are part of this family are Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin. "Gotham Knights" is an open-world, action RPG that is set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City so far.

The latest leak comes as there is still the possibility that "Gotham Knights" can come out on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This is likely because both "Star Wars Jedi Survivor" and "Hogwarts Legacy" were ported backward, according to The Gamer.
