It took a few years, but Microsoft finally made good on the movie promise for Halo. Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will be the first official 90-minute film produced by Microsoft and their Halo-centric 343 Industries. The film will be cut up into five episodes and then relaunched with an additional 15-minutes of footage into a full movie according to Hero Complex.
The live-action shorts were directed by Stewart Hendler, best known for the remake of Sorrority Row, and will star essentially unknown Australian actor Tom Green--no relation to the other one--and former X:2 X-Men United Colossus actor Daniel Cudmore as Master Chief. The series will act as a prequel to the events of Halo 4 and premiere October 5th on Machinima.com.
While the film history of Halo has been spotty, their live-action advertising mixed with digital materials for Halo: ODST and Halo 3 were some of the best things the franchise never received when initially rejected by Universal Studios, Fox and Warner Brothers in 2006. Now it seems Microsoft got the message and are moving forward on the web-front to give gamers a taste of a real Master Chief in parts of the live-action.
