Assassin's Creed has sold 30 million units since 2007 is Ubisoft, video game publisher and developer's biggest franchise. Across different platforms, Ubisoft has released nine different Assassin's Creed games.

The plot of Assassin's Creed is set in 2012, when the protagonist discovers that his ancestors were Assassins and was kidnapped by a secret organization having ties with Knights Templar and is sent back to recover certain antiques. He explores the lives of his ancestors through a machine called 'Animus', which allows him to experience the time periods of the American Revolution.

But Sony could still end up distributing the films. The Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time film was one of game based movie series that did not do well.

Ubisoft Motion Pictures was launched by Ubisoft to invest its resources into bringing their games to film, TV and other digital projects. Ubisoft is targeting different markets, a TV series that will be based on Ubisoft's "Raving Rabbids" game franchise will be airing at Nickelodeon. Yves Guillemot, Ubisoft's Chief is planning to make films out of the popular military stealth shooter games, "Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell" and "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon".

Though Ubisoft has spoken nothing on the release dates or the co-cast of the film, the film might not come to fruition for another three year time.
