Valve wants you--and your recommendations for what games should be on Stream. Stream Greenlight is a tool for developers, publishers and even gamers when it comes to getting their wares sold on the Stream network. Citing Greenlight as the first step in a new direction, Valve provides a basic FAQ for what the service entitles.
Mainly players and Stream users can nominate games that should be sold on the service, including directing developers to the service so they can submit their own games. In fact, the Greenlight group has always existed internally with Valve. Now it's being brought out to the community to handle the speed in which indie games are being developed and fans are becoming increasingly tied to their products.
Per Valve's official release:
"Steam Greenlight will allow developers and publishers to post information and media about their game in an effort to convince the Community that their game should be released on Steam. Greenlight piggybacks on Steam Workshop's flexible system that organizes content and lets customers rate and leave feedback.
As well as serving as a clearing house for game submissions, Greenlight will provide an incredible level of added exposure for new games and an opportunity to connect directly with potential customers and fans."
Only catch for people submitting their games: mandatory that your title run on Windows PC and be your own original work. If you really want another awesome game on there, just contact the developer and tell them to do yet another time-consuming thing. Greenlight will show up sometime this August.
