The popular manga and anime, One Piece, is coming to U.S. shores this November and will be plundering by the handful. Sparring you any more pirate puns, One Piece: Pirate Warriors is a massive-scale action game from the developers at Omega Force and Tecmo Koei, who are best known for their Dynasty Warriors franchise. One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they attempt to find the hidden treasure of Gol D. Roger called One Piece.
But there's more to the pirate tale than that: nearly every over-the-top character Luffy encounters is a Devil Fruit user, which allows people powers like being made of rubber like Luffy to causing massive earthquakes or turning into giraffes--which is a lot deadlier than it sounds. There're also samurais, corrupt sailors and Navy lieutenants and even cyborgs. The manga itself is still going strong after a time skip where all the characters got power boosts, which is insane when one fo Luffy's earliest abilities is growing his arm out to the size of a small building to crush a ship.
Now partner that with the Dynasty Warriors mechanic and you've got some definitely interesting gameplay. Pirate Warriors is already out in Japan and will come out in Europe on September 21st. The U.S. release date is scheudled for November. Pirate Warriors is a Playstation 3 exclusve for now.
