Halo 4 Multiplayer Takes Up 8 Gigs

If you like multiplayer and Halo, start clearing up your hard drive. Gamespot uncovered the first details of Halo 4's system requirements when it comes out later this year. It's going to require a full 8 gigabytes on your XBox just to install the multiplayer functionality that includes War Games, which covers the traditional multiplayer offerings, and upcoming Spartan Ops, which acts like Left 4 Dead's Mutations but with more plot between you and your online buddies.

The dirty secret of this year's E3 came from most high definition games being run off of top tier PCs, and it's a big question just how much that'll reflect on the current generation of consoles. The note that a full download of the game to hard drives for "optimal experiences" is a little disconcerting--after all, how big IS Halo 4 anyway?

It marks the first time that the option to put a game on your hard drive in order to improve load times is essentially required to run any part of it. Maybe this is the first knell for the end of the current generation of gaming, and it's all Master Chief's fault in November.
