It turns out the next Marvel short film won't be about Ant-Man or Agent Couslon. It'll just be a gun.
In fact, one of the Chitauri guns scattered around New York in the aftermath from The Avengers climatic battle from the blockbuster film. Item 47, the third Marvel One-Shot short film, focuses on a down-on-their-luck couple that come into possession of said gun and decide to go on a bit of a crime spree that has two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents tracking them down before they blow anything else up.
Entertainment Weekly delves into the short's premise, that it won't be as comedic as the previous entires, The Consultant and A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer that shipped with the Blu-Rays for Iron Man 2 and Thor. The tone's a bit darker as it deals with the logistics of a world coming to terms with alien invasions, gamma monsters and Norse gods fighting their battles on Earth.
There'll even be a second screen viewing app avliable on iTunes this Friday, just in time for Comic-Con, that'll have an exclusive clip from Item 47 and allow folks in San Diego to participate in a scavenger hunt that culminates with a screening of the short on July 12th. As for the rest of you, Item 47 will be on The Avengers Blu-Ray on September 25th.
