It's been reported that Apple release a new method of tracking people using their software, enhancing iOS user’s privacy.
The new app is expected to be mentioned at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which opened earlier today at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
“Apple Inc. is planning to release a new way for mobile app developers to track who uses their software, according to people briefed on Apple's plans, the company's latest attempt to balance developers' appetite for targeting data with consumers' unease over how it is used,” according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
“The new tool … aims to better protect user privacy than existing approaches, these people said,” the report added.
In the past year, Apple had announced that they would phase out the use of Unique Device Identifier (UDID) which can be accessed by developers and advertisers allowing them to track usage content of an individual and the user’s movements across different Apps.
“Mobile Ad Networks are exploiting the Open Device Identification Number, which as it suggests, gives each iOS device a unique ID, allowing networks to track certain devices throughout the internet, regardless of what network they are currently on. The Open UDID has also been taken advantage of by the networks, which performs a similar thing to the ODIN,” reported AppPicker.
