The Droid Razr users have been waiting for a long time to update their Android operating system. They’ll still be waiting – but only for another 4 days, according to cnet’s report.
Verizon is reportedly planning to commence the over-the-air Android 4.0.4 update for Motorola Droid Razr and Razr Maxx on June 12.
Motorola had previously said that the update to the Ice Cream Sandwich would be carried out during the second quarter of this year. Given that it is already June 7, cnet reported that an update available from June 12 is a delay because of the need to update servers.
Currently the two Droids are running on Android 2.3.6. After a lot of updates were added to the operating system, the latest version of Android, the Ice Cream Sandwich, has been fully anticipated by the Droid owners. Android 4.0.4 was released at the end of March.
The Ice Cream Sandwich update is said to bring substantial enhancements by numerous features, such as the integrated screenshot capture and the ability to access apps directly from lock screen. Other interesting functions include Wi-Fi Direct, a Wi-Fi connection without wireless access points, and near-field-communication feature Android Beam.
As the flagship handset of Motorola, the Droid Razr was the thinnest smartphone in the world when it was launched. It also boasts a 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED Advanced display with 960 by 540 pixels. The smartphone is 4G LTE-capable and was carried by Verizon Wireless.
