Apple’s complaint against its competitors over patent infringement continues, as the iPhone and iPad maker attempts to block HTC products to enter United States.
HTC was previously ordered by the U.S. International Trade Commission in December of 2011 to remove some data tapping technology function in their products that were patented by Apple. After reviewing the products with customs officials, the Taiwanese mobile giant officially stated on May 29 that their products are now “in compliance with the ITC’s ruling”.
However, Apple is still not happy with HTC’s modification that they filed another complaint on Monday. This marks the third complaints of this year from Apple against HTC.
According to the complaint, Apple asks for an emergency proceeding and enforcement action, blocking the import of 29 HTC products, including the popular EVO 4G, One X, One S, Droid, Incredible, and Flyer tablet.
The dispute over data tapping could be tricky, as it is not exactly the user interface feature but more of a data structure that makes the feature running. While HTC does not believe to infringe Apple’s patents, but Apple thinks otherwise.
If the ITC rules in Apple’s favor, then we may not see the EVO 4G LTE or One X in the Android market in the near future.
In the mean time, Apple is suing HTC in Germany, while HTC brought defensive actions against Apple in the United Kingdom.
