LittleBigPlanet Beta, 'Crystal White' PS Vita Signals a Hot June for Sony

Sony's LittleBigPlanet has now opened its Beta registration for the PlayStation Vita.

The game's hero Sackboy will be bringing his adventures to the portable console, allowing players to test drive the upcoming title.  Fans will be looking to play, create, and share user created content in the gameplay driven PlayStation video game.

Game development company Tarsier Studios, announced that users can head to the enrollment page to have a chance at trying out the game's creation tools, multi touchscreen, and rear touchpad.  LittleBigPlanet cleverly utilizes the PS Vita's game controls and social network capabilities. The game's social networking element encourages players to share their creations as well as play with one another online.

Here is how to sign up for the LittleBigPlanet Beta.

Fans can register by going to https://psnbeta.eu.playstation.com/LittleBigPlanetVita/enroll.php

Sign in with an SEN id/pw and then users will be directed to the beta.  Keep in mind that registering does not guarantee a beta test, though it is worth a shot.

LittleBigPlanet for the PS Vita will likely follow the same successful formula from past LBP titles as players can create their own custom levels, though more emphasis will be on platform rather than racing, fighting or solving puzzles.

The LittleBigPlanet beta comes as hopeful news after recent announcements reported that LBP Vita Karting was not currently in development.  Though title may see its way onto the PS Vita, a response to a comment from the PlayStation Blog  revealed that developers are putting all its resources into the LBP Karting PlayStation 3 version.  The teams' effort is to develop it to "the very best it can be." In order to do that, the PS Vita version was sacrificed for the PS3.

A LittleBigPlanet beta indicates that the Vita title may be on track for its set release date.  The Vita version is set to launch late this June with an expected $50 price tag.

If you thought that the limited beta invites will stir a little envy among LBP fans, Sony has announced that a crystal white colored PlayStation Vita will be released only in Japan on June 28. It will be sold at the same price as the original black Vita models and comes in Wi-Fi or 3G versions, according to CNet.

The new edition of the portable PlayStation device will be referred to as "Crystal White,' with matching ear phones. There has been no official confirmation if the new editions will be availalbe in the United States.

"We do not have plans currently to bring the White PS Vita to the SCEE region, but it will monitor demand and continuously evaluate the situation," a rep said to the gaming website.

The limited LBP beta versions combined with a new Crystal PS Vita limited availability in Japan will push these items in high demand. Sony can expect a pretty busy June once the LBP Vita title and White PS Vitas hit stores.
