The Witcher is fast becoming one of the biggest fantasy franchises in the geek world. Witness to this is the fact that CD Projekt RED's epic video game trilogy based on Andrzej Sapkowski's novels is branching out into the tabletop arena with The Witcher Adventure Game. So, what's that all about?
The Witcher III Looks Stunningly Beautiful
The Witcher Adventure Game promises a story-driven team play experience that gives you a different experience every time you get out that big cardboard box full of tokens. Players can choose witcher Geralt, sorceress Triss, bard Dandelion and dwarven rascal Yarpen Zigrin as their avatars in game and go on quests throughout the continent.
Players get two actions on their turn, the travel and investigate actions. You can double-move on the travel action, but this will make you draw a Foul Fate card with monster encounters or other terrible stuff. You can make things go quicker by traveling by sea, but this costs you as well: ship captains need gold. Every time you hit a city or inhabited region (say, Wizima), you'll get a "Lead" token of the same color of that area.

Investigating, meanwhile, makes you draw one card of three decks named diplomacy, magic, or combat. The outcomes of these cards can range from the beneficial to the outright disastrous.
In lieu of doing either traveling or investigating, however, you can choose to develop your character and draw two cards from your heroes unique adventure deck.
