The highly popular and adored RPG Baldur's Gate have become a prized title among hardcore PC gamers. Bioware's RPG was originally based off of Dungeons and Dragons canon of Forgotten Realms. The game was last seen a decade ago but fans may find hope in the latest string of reports that Bioware may be working on a new installment in the Baldur's Gate franchise.
The Baldur's Gate official website displayed its iconic skull logo if atop a collection of images portraying various characters. Underneath the logo reads a quote:
"The Lord of Murder shall perish, but in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny, chaos will be sown by their passage." - So sayeth the wise Alaundo.
The website did not have any clickable links other than the pause and play button for the music. But looking deeper into the page source code, additional mysterious clues emerge such as:
If one were to seek for more clues, try looking up the Baldursgate.com domain through WHOIS and it reveals that the owner is Trent Oster, founder of Beamdog. Oster recently tweeted that something indeed is brewing along with replies indicating that he has been involved with Baldur's Gate, either past work or the newly upcoming title. Check out his reply on Twitter: "Well, one is wrong for certain. I was on the original #Baldursgate team. Twice."
With another big title making a long overdue return, Diablo, it may be in Bioware's interest to follow the trend and present RPG players with a new Baldur's Gate title.
