Sony Hires Ghost Rider Co-Director for New Twisted Metal Movie

The latest scoop is that Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance co-director Brian Taylor will be assigned to turn Sony's popular Twisted Metal video game into a live action movie.  The Twisted Metal series have gained media attention with its recently released game which features violent vehicle combat with heavy artillery.

Though the game appears to be filled with carnage and fire exploding action, it does contain a story.  A back story is somewhat weak and it is up to Taylor to transition the current plot onto the big screen.  It is reported that featured characters from the game such as the clown faced 'Sweet Tooth' will be involved in an underground racing competition.  The game's signature destructive vehicles and gun firing demolition combat may generate much excitement for Twisted Metal fans.  Looking at Taylor's work in Ghost Rider, fans may be looking for some impressive live action and CGI effects.

The Twisted Metal franchise looks to continues its comeback following up the recent game release with a new movie.  This is all happening after a 10 year hiatus since its first appearance on the original PlayStation console.  Expectations could be high as Taylor will try to prevent a poorly made adaptation and work to add a stronger plot into an already exciting game title.

The game still revolves around the concept of a demolition derby with characters driving around in combat equipped vehicles and firing deadly projectile weapons at one another.  The idea is simple, be the last man standing and you win.  Weapons can be upgraded to land mines, bazookas, and even nuclear weapons.  Players can choose from various arenas and battle it out to see who reigns supreme.
