The last season of "Arrow" ended in a very shocking death of the Black Canary, Laurel Lance now in the "Arrow" Season 5 midseason finale another revelation unfolds regarding Katie Cassidy's character. Spoilers ahead!
In the last scene of the episode "What We Leave Behind", Oliver Queen was confronted by Laurel Lance which seems to be alive and well. Is she really Laurel Lance? Or is she someone else? Here are some theories and reasons for her to be alive in "Arrow" Season 5 according to IGN.
First of all, there will be a possibility that the Laurel Lance we've seen is her Earth Two counterpart, Black Siren which we've seen in the last few episodes of "The Flash" Season 2. The Black Siren is an evil metahuman from Earth 2 who has the ability to destroy buildings by using her supersonic scream and was one of the generals during Zoom's "metapocalypse" but was defeated by "The Flash".
Currently being locked-up in S.T.A.R. Labs. , Black Siren might have escaped with the help of "Arrow "Season 5 main villain Prometheus and are now working together. Another possible reason for Laurel Lance's return in "Arrow" Season 5 is the Flashpoint that Barry Allen has caused in the first episode of "The Flash" Season 3. Barry Allen might have changed the past and affected "Arrow" were Damien Darhk did not kill Laurel Lance which has now reflected in the present time.
However there are inconsistencies in this theory because she has only shown herself now and in the 100th episode of "Arrow", Laurel Lance was still considered dead. Another reason for The Black Canary's return in "Arrow" Season 5 is the mythical Lazarus Pit, that was first used by Thea Queen and her sister now White Canary, Sara Lance.
However, The Lazarus Pit was it was destroyed by Nyssa Al Ghul to prevent dead people from coming back to life last season. Lastly, one of the reasons why Laurel Lance is back in "Arrow" Season 5 is because her sister Sara Lance who is part of the "The Legends of Tomorrow" team has finally killed Damian Dahrk in the 80's.
