Amid rumors of cancellation, fans of the popular Japanese anime continue to expect the return of "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Several reports suggested that the third installment of the series will be much darker, as it focuses on the troubled Ken Kaneki and Touka Kirishima's attempts to get into college.
What to expect from 'Tokyo Ghoul' Season 3
While producers keep mum about the storyline that "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will take, the manga storyline could help shed light on what to expect from the upcoming third season of the critically acclaimed anime series. According to Anime Maru, "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 will be darker and disillusioning, and packed with more gore and action.
"Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is expected to pick up two years after the Commission on Counter Ghoul raided the Anteiku. They will run into a terrorist organization called Aogiri Tree as well.
Fans should also expect Ken Kaneki to undergo a major upheaval in "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. He would have a rematch with the legendary ghoul investigator, Kishou Arima, and lose. Kaneki would then spiral into instability and assume the name of Haise Sasaki.
Under this identity, Haise Sasaki would lead the Quinx squad, a group of CCG investigators tasked to look for dangerous ghouls in "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3. Arima then helps him remember who he is and engages him in another rematch. With both giving their all, Arima commits suicide to allow Kaneki the title of One-Eyed King.
Touka Kirishima to go to college
Another highlight to expect in "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3 is Touka Kirishima's dilemma in choosing the right university for her: To-Oh, Kamii, and Duke. The increasing discrimination and racial profiling in the United States would affect her decision-making, and would pose a great distress on her psychologically. She might choose Kamii to be with Kaneki, however. Stay tuned for more updates on the "Tokyo Ghoul" Season 3.
