Fans were deeply disappointed when news about "Galavant" season 3 cancellation circulated over the summer. Due to its declining ratings, the network reportedly decided to axe the show. This means that the musical comedy won't' be singing into the third season. Despite the speculations, fans are still hopeful to see the critically acclaimed musical comedy. In fact, if they won't see "Galavant" season 3, a Broadway homage will suffice.
Why The Show Was Cancelled?
"Galavant" season 3 won't make a return on ABC, according to insiders from Variety. The medieval musical comedy was critically acclaimed for its unique television fanfare throughout its two-season run. However, the dwindling rates prompted the network to cancel "Galavant" season 3. Although ABC hasn't officially announced they've axed the show, the insiders reveal that the show has been dead since its pilot episode. More so, Joshua Sasse was already released from his requirements on the series, which landed him a regular role on The CW's pilot "No Tomorrow."

Even an online petition hasn't convinced the network to continue with "Galavant" season 3. Over the summer, fans signed on iPetitions to show their support for the musical comedy. It appears that the petition hadn't worked, which earned less than 25,000 supports. However, since it started streaming on Netflix, renewal talks for "Galavant" season 3 started to rise.
'Galavant' On Stage?
As the series composer, Alan Menken hinted in the summer, "Galavant" season 3 may very well be canceled on ABC but it should come alive in another form. Many believed that the composer is talking about rebooting the series on Broadway. However, the creators should take note that other cast may be immersed with other projects already. Take the lead actor Joshua Sasse, for example.
GALAVANT is not continuing at ABC. But it will live on in so many ways. Guaranteed. Love to our cast, our writers, our fans!! Stay tuned...
