Blige will guest star next season, hinting at a very important role in the series. More so, the series creator also hinted that a big mystery will take over season 3.
Mary J. Blige To Guest Star
Fans will see a new but familiar face when "How To Get Away With Murder" season 3 starts airing on Thursday. Series creator Pete Nowalk recently announced that the Grammy Award-winner is set to appear on crime-drama series, per Variety. While Blige's role isn't exactly huge, Blige will play a pivotal role, essential for the development of Viola Davis' character (Annalise). Nowalk refused to reveal her role but Nowalk hinted that Blige won't appear on the pilot episode.

Meanwhile, Mary J. Blige's top secret role is something that the rest of the cast has a hard time keeping. They're just simply excited to work with the multi-talented R&B singer. "If I talk about how excited I am, I might give something away," Aja Naomi King said on Tuesday night's premiere screening and panel. "What was written for her and the way that it's done was just so perfect," she finished off. Turns out, Blige is a huge fan of "How To Get Away With Murder" season 3. When the creators learned about this, they had a character in mind that perfectly fitted her.

Just like Mary J. Blige's role in "How To Get Away With Murder" season 3, TV Guide also hints a mystery that will serve as a catalyst in changing the plot. The online publication suggested that the person targeting Annalise could be the biggest mystery of the season. To recall, Viola Davis and the rest of the cast were dumbfounded to read the script. Pete Nowalk also teased that fans should watch the whole season as it is the most game-changing one.
