'Divergent: Ascendant' Cast, Release Date, News & Updates: Confirmed As TV Series? Casting Replacement For Theo James And Shailene Woodley Underway?

Fans of the "Divergent" series were freaking out when main actors Shailene Woodley and Theo James both opted out of the TV project. The leading actors of the "Divergent" series both said that they did not sign up for a TV series, believing that all parts will be in movie form.

With the negative response from Shailene Woodley and Theo James, the fans are wondering if Lionsgate will change their mind and push through with the movie? Or will they push through with making "Divergent: Ascendant" into a TV series? If Lionsgate will push through with the TV franchise, they would have to go through a casting to replace Woodley and James.

The success of the "Divergent: Ascendant" TV series is still unsure, most especially if Shailene Woodley and Theo James drops from the project. The producers' decision to turn the last part of the "Divergent" franchise into a TV series is probably because of the last installment's relative failure on the big screen.

The highly anticipated and supposed success of "Divergent: Allegiant" became an epic disappointment with the ratings and sales of the movie. Theo James and Shailene Woodley, both rising stars and still on the process of making a name in the industry, might not want to be associated with a flop.

Woodley's statement about "not signing up for a TV" show has raised some eyebrows from the movie critics, receiving comments about Woodley being an ungrateful airhead. Aside from "The Fault In Our Stars," the "Divergent" movie franchise has been one of Woodley's stepping stone to success. However, Shailene Woodley has reportedly clarified her statement about not signing up for a TV show. She reportedly meant that she accepted to play Tris Prior in the big screen a few years ago.

As of now, the decision on whether to make the "Divergent: Ascendant" franchise into a movie or a TV series is still floating in the air. Hopefully, Lionsgate will come up with a decision soon for the fans to be at ease.  Stay tuned to GamenGuide for more "Divergent: Ascendant" news and updates!
