Fans took this to mean that Nina Dobrev may not return as Elena or Katherine, rather, she will appear as the ultimate villain in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. Returning writer Kevin Williamson added that the ultimate villain is like a cherry on top of the entire mythology of Mystic Falls.
Damon's Take On The Ultimate Evil
Meanwhile, Julie Plec also hinted that Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will be prompted to do things he doesn't want to do in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8. Somerhalder himself hinted as much. He found the mind control thing to be fascinating. Damon and Enzo will reportedly do some crazy things. The conflict and struggle within them are something fans are really looking forward to in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8.
Since Nina Dobrev is rumored to be the ultimate villain while Ian Somerhalder is currently a slave to evil, fans are hoping for a possible reunion between the two. "The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is scheduled to air on Oct. 21.
