There are rumors that Disney is planning a Hans Solo prequel trilogy starring Alden Ehrenreich. The Han Solo trilogy is said to cover the adventures of the famous intergalactic rebel in his younger years.
New York Daily News reported that Disney discreetly signed 26-year-old Alden Ehrenreich ("Hail, Caesar!") to take on the role of Han Solo in the trilogy film.
The first of the Han Solo trilogy is already being written, so the subsequent release of the next two movies will depend heavily on its success.
Previously, directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller announced that they will launch one prequel, although Disney and Lucasfilm may have developed the idea to turn it into a Han Solo trilogy.
One insider said that there is a real sense of excitement around the Han Solo trilogy and its potential. Considering how Han Solo in the trilogy can delve into new adventures that are completely unrelated to the Empire, there will be more opportunities to expand the storylines and introduce new concepts and features to classic Star Wars fans.
Viewers can expect to visit new galaxies, new characters and races and unique creatures.
ScreenRant stated that the Han Solo trilogy has been described as an origin story. The smuggler will be traveling a lot with his good friend, Chewbacca. It is likely that there will be several familiar characters who will be shown in their younger selves like Jabba the Hutt, Bobba Fett and LandoCalrissian, among others.
The source continued that the Han Solo trilogy developers feel that the captain of the Millennium Falcon has the proper potential to turn into a central figure in several movies.
Most of the details about the potential Han Solo trilogy is still kept hidden, although it is confirmed that Alden Ehrenreich has signed to star in at least three movies.
Alden Ehrenreich grew up in Los Angeles, California, and was discovered by Steven Spielberg during a bat mitzvah. In the Han Solo trilogy, the young actor will play the role made famous by Harrison Ford.
Ehrenreich was joined in the shortlist by Miles Teller, Taron Egerton and Jack Reynor, before ultimately being selected as the one to play the space scavenger.
The title of the upcoming Han Solo trilogy has yet to be announced. Lawrence and Jake Kasdan, are currently writing the script. Lawrence previously scripted "Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi."
