BioWare Gets to Work on Fixing Mass Effect 3 Ending

Rejoice, because the "fixed" ending for Mass Effect 3 is officially under way.

Voice actors Raphael Sbarge, Tricia Helfer, and Lance Henrikson recently confirmed with G4TV their return to the BioWare studio to voice more lines for the DLC. Henrikson said of his addition to the game, "we did a whole series of things to add to the end of the game, to live up to the quality they've been doing."

Mass Effect 3 was hailed upon its release, selling over 3 million copies, but many were disappointed with the game's ending. A charity drive "Retake Mass Effect" demanding a better ending to the game raised over $80,000, and one player even complained to the FTC and Better Business Bureau.

Bioware co-founder Dr. Ray Muzyka promised answers to questions left by the ending in a letter to players after. "Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey...We're working hard to maintain the right balance between the artistic integrity of the original story while addressing the fan feedback we've received. This is in addition to our existing plan to continue providing new Mass Effect content and new full games, so rest assured that your journey in the Mass Effect universe can, and will, continue."

The download is set to expand on the ending with a cinematic epilogue, not replace it. It will be available for free for PC, PS3, and XBox360 this summer.
