Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes is now available in stores. To commemorate the launch of the prologue to the full Metal Gear Solid V release (which is more than a year away), Konami has released a launch trailer to get you kids all excited about spending some money on Big Boss's latest adventure – well, the start of it.
The launch trailer sets up the main story mission of Ground Zeroes, which if you've read reviews and previews, you'll know that this is the only story mission in the game. Boss is sent to a camp to save our chatty little friend Chico and Paz – these two characters being introduced in Peace Walker.
The trailer highlights all of the available moves that Boss will be able to use to sneak around the camp, whether that be during the day or night. A variety of Close Quarters Combat moves are also put on display, reminding us that age is just a number and Boss can still get the job done despite his gray hair.
Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes has already released to a mix of critical reviews, some saying moderately favorable things despite the game's short run-time and others annoyed by the lack of content for the price.
Personally, I think Ground Zeroes looks like an exciting and worthwhile demo, but just that: a demo. I won't be buying the game anytime soon; maybe I'll give it a shot if it comes to PC at a reduced price or by renting it
Selling a small part of a game is shaky ground, and I'm not sure how that will work out for Konami and Ground Zeroes as this week comes to a close. I guess we'll find out if this strategy will backfire for the publisher or usher in a new brand of paid-prologue content.
