Gamers can most likely recall the 2014 release of "The Elder Scrolls Online," which reportedly received mostly negative feedback from critics. The game's developer, ZeniMax, apparently refused to give on the MMORPG and continuously released updates and expansions for the game. Therefore, it appears the game has bounced back and just reached 8.5 million copies in sales, according to game director, Matt Frior.
The game director reportedly revealed during a press event that the MMORPG's user base has grown. He noted that the game sold around 1.5 million units since last year's "E3" event, according to MMORPG.com. Firor also shared that those units sold are divided among the three platforms, namely on PC, Xbox One and PS4. The director explains that the numbers are only related to unit sales, which could mean that there are more players registered in game.
According to reports, Zenimax seems pleased with the "The Elder Scrolls Online" latest sales numbers. The developer has already scheduled a new expansion called "Morrowind" arriving in summer this year. Analysts are already expecting that the upcoming content will continue driving sales numbers up for the MMORPG. "Morrowind" is apparently one of the more popular titles in the series, which has its fair share of fans. The expansion is also expected to bring new players into the game.
As of now, the developer has not shared any information about the new expansion. However, long time series fans are aware that the new content will allow players to journey to the lands in "The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind". The third title in the franchise apparently won awards back in 2002, and speculations believe that it will definitely draw longtime fans to try out the MMORPG, says Game Rant.
With the great sales numbers of "The Elder Scrolls Online", Zenimax is expected to possibly consider even more content in the future. The upcoming "Morrowind" expansion will allows players to visit locations like Seyda Neen and Vivec City, introduce new enemies, armor, encounters, weapons and a new Warden class. The game is now currently available for the PS4, PC and Xbox One, with the expansion scheduled for June 6, 2017.
