The Electronics Entertainment Expo or E3, will open its door for 15,000 members of the public this year. Back in 2015, the Entertainment Software Association, the show's organizers, allowed 5,000 individuals, as invited guest. Then, last year, the public was allowed to participate in its E3 Live event for free.
E3 2017 Ticket Price $149 for the First 1,000 Visitors, and $249 for the Rest
Tickets for the E3 2017 event will start to be available on Feb. 13 via the event's official website. The price is set at $149 a piece for the first 1,000 takers. After that, it will be $249 per ticket. The admission price is good for the whole three day duration of the event and will be a full access pass, Polygon reports.
No change is expected when it comes to business pass owners. Special benefits will remain exclusive to them - the VIP Business Lounge and a dedicated entrance. However, it remains unknown if there will be gamer events as well as the LA Live event similar to E3 2016. Additionally, the event organizers are also encouraging known streamers from YouTube and Twitch, to take part of the event and should avail the media pass to enjoy its benefits.
Many Tech Companies Are Supportive to ESA's Decision to Open up E3 to the Public
Meanwhile, Ubisoft and Microsoft have extended their support to the decision by E3 organizers. The two companies both agree that this year will be a good way for exhibitors to be much closer to its fans, and at the same time, open up E3 to more members of the public. They are also hoping that this will become regular for the event, according to Games Industry.
"We support the ESA's approach to open up E3 to more consumers, and this year will be a good test for the new hybrid model. Getting games in players' hands early and hearing their feedback helps our industry, both in terms of improving the quality of games and shining a light on new and innovative ideas and technology," stated a Ubisoft representative.
Many other tech companies and game developer studios lauded the latest decision. For them, the general consumers are the reason why they are here and should never really be left out in such an event.
