“Overwatch” is one of the most successful titles to be released in 2016. It has a large and diverse audience. To show respect towards its players, the game often implements events based on nearing holidays. Such events were released for both Halloween and Chinese New Year, but are there events in preparation for the nearing holidays?
Game Rant reports that Blizzard has not planned “Overwatch” events for Valentine’s day or Easter. A fan of the game asked if there will be any events for the nearing holidays, but the official “Overwatch” twitter account gave a negative answer. When asked about the motivation behind their decision, since Blizzard has such events prepared in its major MMO “World of Warcraft” the answer given was that “Overwatch” is a different game and they do things differently. The rather short and evasive answer given by officials was the end of the conversation on this topic. It is possible that the transition from “Year of the Rooster” to the new competitive season may have proven to be a strenuous one, but will the “Overwatch” development team make it up for lost opportunities?
From what is not coming, to what is coming in the coming updates of “Overwatch”. PC Gamer shares that the biggest change to “Overwatch” comes in the form of a server browser. At the moment, games and lobbying are completely handled by Blizzard’s servers. The addition of a server browser will help players find games which they feel to be most comfortable with. On the side, people will be able to create their own public games with a large assortment of tweaks in the hand of the host. For now, it is not completely sure what the options behind a game room creation will be, but knowing Blizzard, it will deliver some whacky options together with the ones more typical than the genre like the number of players, map pool, and others.
Ubergizmo shares more news of coming changes shared by the director of “Overwatch” Jeff Kaplan.
In a forum post, he has shared that reports will soon be available on consoles. It is expected for them to come in the beginning of the summer, but the option may be realized sooner, depending on the speed at which Blizzard finishes the system and console creators allow the update to appear. This is good news for every “Overwatch” console player as this will allow lowering and limiting trolling and toxic behavior. “Overwatch” is available on PC, PS 4 and XBOX One.
