Game of Thrones Ascent, the Popular Web Game Based on the Hit Series, is Coming to iOS and Android this Spring

The very popular web and Facebook game Game of Thrones Ascent, based on the even more popular TV and book series "Game of Thrones: A Song of Ice and Fire", is making its way to mobile phones. The game, currently available through Facebook and flash game site Kongregate, will be available for iOS and Android this spring.

Game of Thrones Ascent has been one of the most active and popular games on Kongregate's web gaming portal, and has attained more than 2 million players on Facebook. The developers at Disruptor Beam always wanted to bring the game to mobile devices, they explained.

"Since the early stages of the game's development, our intention was always to release Game of Thrones Ascent on mobile devices," said Disruptor Beam CEO and founder Jon Radoff. "We are excited to be bringing the game to mobile players. That's what we've seen first-hand with Kongregate, and why we are excited about partnering with them for our mobile release."

Game of Thrones Ascent is the first social game based on the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book universe written by George R.R. Martin. In case you've somehow not heard about it, the book series was adapted to the incredibly popular and successful HBO TV program "Game of Thrones", the title of Martin's first book in the series.

In the game, you take control of a minor house in Westeros and swear fealty to one of the major families. You make choices and interact with other characters, which affects your house and role in the game world. It uses a lot of text and still graphics, which should make it well-suited to mobile devices. Game of Thrones Ascent is free to play on Facebook or Kongregate's site. Season 4 of the HBO series begins soon--check out this fantastic fan-made trailer for its return.
