Some "Rainbow Six Siege" news has reportedly come from recently finished Six invitational tournaments held in Montreal. Reports claim that there was a lot of new information announced during the event. These apparently include some bug fixes and hit registration updates, but the highlight was the announced Alpha Packs, which are coming in the game's "Velvet Shell" DLC.
The loot packs are supposedly randomly rewarded to players every time they finish a match. It apparently does not matter if the team wins or loses, but winning the match reportedly increases the chances for players to gain the rewards, reports Game Rant. It appears to be a reward system that encourages gamers to stay in the game instead of abandoning the match in the middle of gameplay.
Other reports about "Rainbow Six Siege" and its "Velvet Shell" update indicate that players can attempt a roll for the Alpha Packs after a match, but even if they do not get a good roll, it increases the chances of the player getting a hit on their next attempt. The roll percentage reportedly resets once that player wins a loot pack. The loot packs will generate a random prize every time.
PC Gamer notes that players can also apparently purchase these packs with their in-game Renown, which appears to a great way for gamers to avoid paying with real money when they try their luck. Another requested feature will update the game's user interface, which permits players to tweak their weapon load outs and browse through menus while the game searches for a match. Ubisoft also announced another Six invitational events planned for 2018.
The "Velvet Shell" content update for "Rainbow Six Siege" is scheduled to release on Feb. 7, 2017. The update also includes a new coastal map and two new Spanish operators. These items will be initially available for Season Pass holders and eventually for regular players to purchase with in-game money. It appears the Alpha Packs might not be the only reason to look forward to the game's upcoming DLC.
