Dark Souls 2 launches tomorrow in the US to much grim excitement, as gamers prepare to die repeatedly and swiftly at the hands of monstrous enemies--and enjoy almost every minute of it.
To get you even more ready for the release, or pull you in if you haven't yet decided, Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for launch. It's titled the "Locomotive Breath" trailer, after the Jethro Tull song that plays during it following some creepy narration.
The punishing RPG launches on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 tomorrow and on Windows PC (hardware requirements here) a little over a month later, on April 25.
The good news for those waiting to play on PC is that this time, unlike the PC version of the original Dark Souls, gamers will be getting a legitimate, attractive release and not a half-baked port. Dark Souls ran only up to a resolution of 1024x720 and 30fps. This time around, From Software is promising 60fps and enhanced resolution options.
The trailer narration talks about how "death will define your journey", which I don't think is something anyone who has played the game will remotely disagree with. The narrator goes on to say how it will change you, make you something less than human but more than mortal and darkness-all the good, jolly stuff you normally see in the series.
The CGI intro cuts away and we get some gameplay footage alongside Locomotive Breath. There's some sweet slow-motion walking, huge enemies and glimpses of some combat. Tomorrow is the day you can finally experience it yourself on consoles, 3 years after Dark Souls' release.
