There's been a lot of talk lately about Watch Dogs' supposed graphical downgrade between past and recent trailers, but here's a piece of plastic that'll never change. Provided you can ignore the urge to pop it in the microwave. Publisher Ubisoft has just released an action figure of the game's protagonist, master hacker Aiden Pearce.
"'Aiden Pearce Execution' is a highly detailed figurine which faithfully reproduces the iconic hero from Watch Dogs. Aiden Pearce stands on the street, fixing his opponent on the ground, ready to pull the trigger and inflict his own brand of justice..."
It's a nice collector's item for any fan of the game, however many are left once the dust settles from this skirmish over the game's changing graphics. But it's important to note Ubisoft's apt label of the toy as a "figurine," and not an "action figure." Unlike the fancy schmancy McFarlane toys, Pearce features no points of articulation. So, it'll make for a great display item, but not something you could use to distract a child for too long while you go hack happy on the streets of Chicago.
Affixed to a tiny chunk of "concrete," Aiden stands at a shade over 10 and a half inches, eyes forever frozen in silent rage, facing an eternity of stiff limbs and horrendous Chicago style pizza. Presumably, he's pointing the gun at the CEO of Uno.
At the moment, it looks like the figurine will only be available in the U.K. for £29.99 ($49.94). Look closely, and you might recognize that this is actually the same figurine (just a smidge taller) that's offered with the Watch Dogs DedSec Edition that Ubisoft had announced in July.
Said pack also included a includes a collectible SteelBook case featuring art from DedSec, badges, the official game soundtrack, an 80-page hardcover art book, Aiden Pearce's mask, and obviously, a copy of the game.
Watch Dogs' open world of Chicago is home to a security network that would make Orwell piss his pants, responsible for keeping everyone and everything jacked in for the purpose of keeping tabs. At the same time, it allows players as Aiden to meddle with all manner of the city's infrastructure as they see fit - ATM's, traffic lights, security cameras, raise bridges, public transportation, access various networks, etc. The game is slated to release on PC, PlayStation 3 and 4, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One this May.
