Compared to other "Final Fantasy" titles, "Final Fantasy XII" appears to be a less-discussed chapter of the popular RPG franchise. However, its avid followers continue to believe that the game's popularity was affected by the forthcoming closure of the PS2 era. Reports claim the game was being regularly requested as a title that needs to be remade for the PS4. Apparently, Square Enix was intently listening and eventually announced "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age."
After the remake's official announcement, the company has been withholding information about the updated game's new features. The lack of updates has caused fans to speculate that the remastered game might be stuck in development limbo, says Game Rant. Surprisingly, new footage of the game was showcased during the "Taipei Game Show 2017." The new footage appears to confirm that the RPG remake might be completed in time for its expected 2017 release date.
Shinji Hashimoto, "Final Fantasy" brand manager for Square Enix, unveiled a new gameplay demo of "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" to the gaming expo held in Taipei, Taiwan last weekend. The footage reportedly revealed more details about the remake's gameplay. The game's Gambit menu returns as well as some amazing boss encounters in the original version. According to Techno Buffalo, A new Turbo Mode feature as also debuted, this new element apparently allows players to speed through some boring sections of the game.
Reports have pointed out that the company's decision to remaster the game supports their speculated confidence when they released the original version. It was supposedly considered a controversial title, but the publisher felt that it would also eventually become popular. Some RPG aficionados reportedly consider it and "Final Fantasy VIII" as the franchise's deviations. Some fans that were originally adamant about playing these titles have mostly likely changed their opinion.
"Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" is a Sony PS4-exclusive RPG scheduled for a 2017 release. The original version was launched in March 2006 for the PS2 and has reportedly sold over 6 million copies worldwide.
