Dark Souls 2 PC System Requirements

Dark Souls 2 PC System Requirements

The brutally difficult sequel to Dark Souls will be upon us soon, though we just learned PC gamers will have to wait a little while longer than their console brethren. The extra month probably won't kill anyone, and at least they're making it a proper port this time around.

What those waiting to play Dark Souls 2 on PC do get today are the system requirements for the game. They aren't too taxing, which isn't the most surprising thing given that it's not a next-gen title and the console version is on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 rather than the new hardware.

So, what will you need to run the punishing RPG? Here's the full list of minimum specs:

-OS: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista SP2, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8
-Processor: AMD® Phenom II X2 555 3.2Ghz or Intel® Pentium Core 2 Duo E8500 3.17Ghz
-Memory: 2 GB RAM
-Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® 9600GT, ATI Radeon HD 5870
-Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
-Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
-Network: Internet connection required for online play and product activation

As for the recommended specs:

-OS: Windows 7 SP1
-Processor: Intel® CoreTM i3 2100 3.10GHz or AMD® A8 3870K 3.0GHz
-Memory: 4 GB RAM
-Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 465 or higher, ATI Radeon HD 6870 or higher
-Hard Drive: 8 GB available space
-Sound Card: Compatible with DirectX 9.0c or higher
-Network: Internet connection required for online play and product Activation

All in all, not too bad. Even the recommended specs aren't asking too much, though it depends on who you're talking to-some people don't have computers nearly suited for gaming. But if you were already considering the PC version of Dark Souls 2, it's likely safe to make the assumption that probably doesn't apply to you.

Dark Souls 2 is out on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 4 March 11 in the US, releasing in Japan and then PAL territories on March 13 and 14. The Windows PC version of the game will be released April 25.
