Today's the day boys n' girls. Just like we told you earlier this week, if you never had the chance to try Call of Duty: Ghosts' mulitplayer mode, the time is now. A demo for the mode is now live for the weekend, and comes to a close on Monday, March 10.
The Search & Rescue, Domination, and Team Deathmatch modes of play are available to try on three different maps: Strikezone, Warhawk, and Prison Break. Additionally, the original Extinction game mode, Point of Contact, is also good to go.
That's the good news, but here's the bad. The offer is only good to gamers with Xbox consoles, so if you have a One or 360, all is well. Everyone else is S.O.L. PC gamers might as well keep their lips zipped because they already had their chance in February.
Infinity Ward recently detailed Ghosts' next DLC pack, Devastation. It offers a new chapter for Extinction, new weapon, and four maps in total, one of which is a re-work of the fan favorite Dome from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, re-born as Unearthed. You can check out the official details for each map below:
Ruins - A South American temple complete with an active volcano. The map is described as a triangular-dom map where three control points can be captured. Players that unlock a field order can activate the volcano, triggering an environment hazard of falling molten debris. The map does not come with a shirtless Kit Harington.
Behemoth - Takes place on a giant mechanical Earth-excavator, which equates to a medium-sized. Behemoth's excavator is high off of the ground, making its sides a danger for players as they can fall to their deaths. The map's kill-streak allows for someone to take command of a mini-gun equipped chopper.
Collision - A small-medium sized map that's one part container ship and one part damaged bridge. The map is symmetrical and teams spawn on opposite sides. Domination mode puts the B-flag in the center of the map between two sniper points. Completed field orders give a player control of an A-10 fighter jet.
Unearthed - Unearthed is redesigned as an archeological dig-site. Three aliens from Extinction Mode can be summoned through some odd means and be sent to kill enemies via self-destruction. The Extinction mode weapon, Venom-X, is available as well but hidden.
Episode 2 of Extinction will be called "Mayday". It picks up right after the events of the "Nightfall" episode and adds two new alien types: Seeders and the Kraken.
Xbox gamers again get the best offer, as they'll be the first to get Devastation when it releases April 3. Season Pass holders are already enjoying the Ripper.
